Sevenacide is the literary debut of Sarasota-based author
Robert Shuster. It is a collection of seven sci-fi/horror short
stories, tied together by the sport of rugby, which the author played
for two decades. The title "Sevenacide" was derived from
"seven-a-side," a seven-man form of the sport. Because of the nature
of the stories, "side" became "cide" (as in genocide, insecticide,
suicide, etc.)
The stories are written in the tradition of Rod Serling's "Twilight
Zone" and "Tales from the Crypt." They have bizarre and unexpected
twists that keep the reader guessing until the end. Although rugby
is the constant theme throughout the collection, someone with a
limited background in the sport will enjoy this collection.
