Within the Darkness, Golden Eyes by Michael Laimo is Flesh
and Blood magazine's first chapbook endeavor. With this story appearing
in the late Epitaph magazine, Flesh and Blood decided to print it specially
in chapbook form with the next two installments, A Matter of When
to be published in issue no. 5 and For the Infestation of Maggots
to be published in issue no. 6.
Synopsis: Within the Darkness, Golden Eyes is the first
story in the Golden Eyes trilogy, which begins the agonies of
a simple, family-loving doctor who finds himself amidst great troubles,
anquished by an evil breed of people living in the woods behind his home.
In this first story, the good doctor tells of his first meeting with
these golden-eyed beasts, how they came to virtually enslave him
through threats of his family's safety, and how they ultimately utilize
his knowledge to better their hideous intentions. It would be best to
order this first installment to better appreciate and enjoy the next
two stories in this trilogy, which will be published in issues five
and six of Flesh and Blood magazine, respectively.
This will be a handsome, limited/signed edition chapbook designed by
Fat Cat Designs (same guys who design Flesh and Blood magazine, Pirate
Writings, the late Into the Darkness, Horror, and not to mention their
own line of books) that will be twenty-four pages in length, fully
illustrated by Keith Minnion, with an introduction from Edo van
Belkon and an opening by the author himself, Michael Laimo.
About the author: Michael Laimo has had work published in
(to name just a few) Epitaph, Plot, Crossroads, Frightnet, Pirate
Writings, Black Moon, and The Blue Lady. He has also appeared in the
anthologies Dark Whispers and Flesh and Marrow. He is currently
Assistant Fiction Editor with Space and Time magazine and is a member
of the Horror Writer's Association. His novel, "Atmosphere," is
currently being shopped around.
