Fossil Publications of Wichita, Kansas began as an offshot of Wheelpig Graphics. At Wheelpig (a name derived from the fact that Kenneth James Crist is a retired motorcycle cop), Kenneth has been doing editing and graphics work, in other words, computer setup for the old Black Petals, along with some issues of Monster Mush, Seductive Torture, Pillow Dreams, and other Madman Express publications. When D.M. Yorton offered Kenneth Black Petals, he in turn approached John Gollihar, an old friend and confidant, about being the co-editor. They formed Fossil Publications, so named because two old fossils are running it. In addition to the quarterly magazine Black Petals, they also do the quarterly newsletter for the Wichita Police Retired Officer's Association at no charge.

Their goals? A good enough magazine that circulation will come up and eventually it will pay for itself. Long-range goals? Be rich, famous, and drive cool cars. No, seriously, if they could someday get big enough to be in bookstores, that would be neat.
