Fairwood Press was founded in 1995 by Patrick and Honna Swenson for the purpose of publishing Talebones magazine, a small press science fiction/dark fantasy magazine that has garnered numerous awards, nominations, and honorable mentions. In 1998, they began publishing high quality chapbook collections and writer references. In the spring of 2000, Fairwood Press incorporated and began work on a new trade paperback line, the first book being a collection by novelist Patrick O'Leary that debuted in November of 2000.
