Wicked Hollow News

Updated October 2, 2005

I would like to issue to everyone: readers, contributors, subscribers, retailers, and everyone, an apology for the delay between issues 8 and 9 of Wicked Hollow. Essentially, everything that could have gone wrong has. From planned new printers going unresponsive and refusing to answer any queries, to artists missing deadline and promising to be done soon then also going entirely unresponsive, to the initial delay of just filling the issue with the type of material I was seeking for this magazine. The magazine is labelled as horror (which is fine because that was my own doing in the magazine's early issues), but the fact is it's no longer a horror magazine, not as horror is most often represented. It's a magazine of dark literature, and I have to read through hundreds of horror submissions to find the half dozen stories I want for each new issue. I'm currently buying maybe 1% of the fiction submissions received, and as the sole editor, that oftentimes means it takes me a long time to fill an issue.

Things are finally coming around. The new issue is almost complete after reassigning a story for artistic rendering after the initial artist refused to maintain contact with me and I'm hoping to have it printed and shipping by Halloween 2005.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience as well as everyone who came to the website at the announcement of the new issue and advance ordered a copy or bought a subscription. Your support and faith in this project is sincerely appreciated and I'll do all in my power to not let down a single contributor or reader.

Stick with Wicked Hollow. The hole goes much, much deeper.

Yours,
     Jon Hodges, Editor
