So, here's the deal. I want to move some back issues, especially issue 5, of which I have 31 copies remaining. This issue is simultaneously the future of the magazine and the last of its past. On the one hand, it was the first issue of Wicked Hollow to be sent to a printer and be done proper (rather than on my office floor, print, cut, folded, and stapled all by hand). The printer outputted it at the wrong DPI and the interior illustrations are all slightly pixellated, which garnered some bad reviews (I received #6 free from the printer as a consequence). At the same time, it is the last issue in which I feel the contents mark a day when I, as Wicked Hollow's editor, was still feeling out the magazine, what niche it was to fill, what Wicked Hollow, as a magazine, really was. This does not mean to suggest the quality is low, it is not by any means, but that there are some stories here that you may not would see in Wicked Hollow today based upon its subject matter, setting, etc.

Issue 5 includes fiction by Tim Curran, Douglas Ford ("Processed Meat," which was recommended for a 2003 Bram Stoker Award), Michael Kelly, Marco Zeta, Patricia J. Espostio, and Paul Edwards, as well as poetry by Jane Gwaltney, Marcie Lynn Tentchoff, and Bruce Boston. This issue was released in January 2003 and retails for $4. However, I'm marking them off and selling them now for $2.50 to help induce flow. On the other hand, I'm going to give them away if you'll order a subscription. They will not count as one of the four issues in your subscription but will be sent to you along with #8, or else #9 if you'd prefer to start with the next issue. Finally, if you order a copy of #8 now, I'll send you #5 as well for an additional $1.50.
